BAP

  • Term
    • Short form: BAP
    • Long form: BAP – BIM project execution plan
    • Classification: BIM regulations
    • Origin: The term BAP is the German equivalent of the English term BEP – written out BIM Execution Plan (according to ISO 19650-1:2018).
    • Alternative designations: BAP – BIM execution plan (according to terminology SN EN ISO 19650-1:2018, SN EN ISO 19650-2:2018 and SIA 2051)
  • Normative definition
    • The English definition and normative definition of the BEP – BIM Execution Plan is provided in ISO 19650-1:2018.
    • The German definition and normative definition of the BAP – BIM project execution plan is provided in DIN EN ISO 19650-1:2019
  • Definition
    • The BIM project execution plan (BAP) is a guideline document that defines the basis for BIM-based collaboration. It defines the organizational structures and responsibilities, sets out the framework for the BIM services and defines the processes and collaboration requirements for the individual parties involved. The models and processes are standardized in terms of structures, elements and information. The BAP also specifies the project-related characteristics and defines the level of depth of information and detail and their qualities. The BIM project execution plan should become part of the contract between the client and project participants.
  • Remark
    • The BAP focuses on the BIM-related project organization and therefore interacts very strongly with the OHB organization manual or project organization manual, which focuses on the conventional project organization. There are always tendencies to merge the two documents – for example. with the OHB.BIM.
    • The interaction between AIA and BAP is very strong. It is advisable to structure the documents in a consecutive manner in order to make a direct link between the specification (AIA) and the implementation proposal (BAP) comprehensible.
    • In 2020, Christoph Eichler and Paul Churchellas developed the BIM set of rules in a series of workshops involving dozens of contributors to come up with a proposal for what a merged AIA and BAP document could look like. buildingSMART Austria has made this document available for download free of charge since 2021: BIM Rulebook
